Description

Saccharomyces boulardii (SB), a subspecies of S. rrcerevisiae, is a non-pathogenic biotherapeutic probiotic agent that rrsupports the establishment of friendly bacteria in the gastrointestinal rrtract (GIT). In the GIT, SB increases the production of secretory IgA rr(sIgA), short chain fatty acids and the activity of the brush border rrdisaccharide digestive enzymes. It also discourages the growth of rrunfriendly micro-organisms and reduces digestive inflammatory mediators.

• Ifrr diarrhoea persists for more than 12 hours in children under 3 years, 24rr hours in children aged 3 years-6 years or 48 hours in adults and rrchildren over 6 years, seek medical advice.

• The active ingredient contained in this product has not been shown to be contraindicated during pregnancy or lactation.
• S. boulardii has been clinically trialled in infants and children without any serious side effects reported.
• Althoughrr S. boulardii is a non-pathogenic organism, there is some concern that rrimmunocompromised or critically ill patients taking S. boulardii may rrhave an increased risk for fungaemia.
• Patients with long-term dysbiosis may need to start at a lower dose.
• Patients with true (IgE-mediated) yeast allergy may be allergic to products containing S. boulardii.
• Sincerr S. boulardii is a yeast, antifungal medications/herbal supplements may rrdecrease its effectiveness. Take 2 hours before or 4-6 hours after rrantifungals.
